1.    PREVENT ACCIDENTS AND IDENTIFY PRIMARY, SECONDARY AND TERTIARY CARE CENTERS AND PLAN A NATIONAL TRAUMA CARE CENTER.

2.    PREVENT HOSPITAL SEPSIS AND STANDARDIZE IMPLANTS.

3.    TARGET THE AGE RELATED ORTHOPEDIC CONDITIONS, PREVENT AND TREAT AGGRESSIVELY OSTEOPOROSIS AND OSTEOARTHRITIS.

4.    PREVENT CONGENITAL ANOMALIES BY CYTOGENETIC COUNSELING AND PRENATAL DIAGNOSIS.

       EFFECTIVELY MANAGE THE EXISTING DEFORMITIES.   

5.    MOULD THE STRUCTURE OF TEACHING METHODOLOGY-UG AND PG TEACHING. 

       STANDARDIZE ORTHOPAEDIC PROCEDURES TO THE INDIAN SCENARIO 

       REGULARIZE CMES AND WORKSHOPS-CREDIT SYSTEM 

       STRESS ON THE ETHICS AND PHILOSOPHY OF ORTHOPAEDIC PRACTICE

My dear colleagues

It is indeed my privilege to extend a very cordial and warm welcome to each one of you for the 54^th Annual Conference of our Association to be held in the historic city of Bhubaneshwar.

I am glad that Orissa the land of rich heritage and culture, the land of people of simplicity and humility, the land of intellectuals and brilliant orthopaedic surgeons have come forward to host this memorable event from 24^th to 29^th November 2009.

I have already made my preliminary inspection and the conference will be held in the KiIts University Campus housed in a 150 acre education wonder. It has all the infrastructure to hold a mammoth event like our Annual Conference. Bhubaneshwar is one of the modern cities of our country with everything available whatever you ask for.

I can assure you that under the able guidance of Dr. P.T. Rao and the stewardship of Dr. Pradhan and his team no stones will be left unturned to make this conference a memorable one. Memorable for academic excellence, hospitable stay and to explore the legends and past glory of Kalinga empire and the unexplored beauty of Orissa.

Your presence with your family will make the difference. Plan it right now. Mark it in your calendar.

I have planned and dreamed many things for Indian Orthopaedic Association this year. Let us work together and see the culmination of our efforts in Bhubaneshwar. Awaiting to see you in Bhubaneshwar.

Dear friend,

If one wants to accomplish a mission, it is a blessing to have dedicated, honest and straightforward members in the team. I am certain that we have such a team in organizing committee of this IOACON, being hosted by Orissa Orthopaedic Association. An honest and continuous effort is being made by all the involved members of OOA, to make this event, a grand success. Bhubneswar may not be as glamours a city as Mumbai or Delhi or Chennai, but I have no doubt that the forthcoming event will be remembered by all who come to Bhubneswar.

A very conscientious effort is being made to create a scientific template to ensure a uniform, pre determined and good standard scientific deliberations. The idea is to create a scientific template, with consensus, which can become a regular feature for all times to come. It has been discussed thoroughly in the executive committee meeting on 3rd May, 2009 at Delhi and will be put to practice at Bhubneswar

The KIIT campus, chosen as venue, is very well laid out and is being suitably modified to hold a mammoth conference like IOACON. Enough space has been earmarked for registration area, dinning facilities and trade exhibition etc.

I am sure that every participant will enjoy this mega event which OOA members are organizing with complete dedication.

Greetings from the temple city Bhubaneswar.

It is my pleasure on behalf of Orissa Orthopaedic Association &Organizing committee of IOACON 2009 to invite you to revisit Orissa after 23 years, since IOACON 1986, Cuttack .Now the final Count down has began for the yearly mega event of IOA. The members of Organizing committee are leaving no stone unturned to make this Event a memorable one.

Over the years, Annual Conference of IOA had endeavored to provide an appropriate and approachable stage to showcase the scientific work of its members and stalwarts. The high standard and elegance of the planned activities have already earned a appreciations from the IOA. This annual events are held in an atmosphere of comfort and competence with a great amount of thought put into the selection of topics for deliberation and impartial and tough selection procedure for free papers. The young surgeons learn the State-of-Art of Orthopaedics to cut short the learning curve and the Experienced Surgeons will share thoughts based on experiences. CME, Scientific Programmes and Post conference Workshops have been meticulously planned with IOA President's Theme “DISABILITY FREE SOCIETY” to have an impact on everybody's mind and soul.

So I invite early registration and participation in different Academic activities. Besides the scientific bonanza, you will rediscover Orissa, it's rich cultural heritage, flora & fauna, art & architecture to your heart's content. Its planned as a complete event for you and your family with your Spouse & children will enjoy the social gathering, various entertainment programs and visit to the Nandan Kanan wildlife sanctuary.

The sands of time are receding faster and faster. The time of mega event IOACON 2009 from 24th -29th November 2009 is at a cubit distance. We invite scientific Research papers to bring out your yeomen service to national limelight with definite message to the audience.

A tired day may still leave you with enough energy to relish the recreations of the dusk and the dark of Bhubaneswar, the temple city of India. Spouses and children will remain busy in different entertainment programmes besides tour to the nearby wildlife sanctuary NandanKanan Zoo, famous for white tigers, lion safari and visit to the golden triangle.
